MICHAEL DICKES is a man of supreme and varied talents. He is a writer, filmmaker, singer/songwriter, and composer, with nine CDs to his credit, and songs featured in film, television, and radio. Formerly signed by BMG ufa and Rising Sun, he widely toured Europe and the U.S. His stories have been published in print and on line literary journals. In addition to lending his voice and audio/video editing talents to projects by others, he was the founding editor of Awkword Paper Cut, an online arts & culture monthly, which focused on creative works that ventured outside the box while also promoting community-minded collaborations. He also applied his many years of experience working in radio as show host, program director, and marketing consultant to create The Awk Pod, a successful podcast, distributed by iHeart Radio, Stitcher, and iTunes.
Michael has conceived, filmed, edited, and produced a variety of video and audio vignettes that feature his own short stories and poems, as well as producing pieces for many other talented writers. Most recently, two of his short prose films were featured at the 2014 International Film Festival in Athens, Greece. His short stories have been published in Southpaw Journal, Thrice Fiction, Kerouac’s Dog Magazine, Thunderclap Press, Connotations Press, THIS Literary Magazine, Blue Fifth Review, Istanbul Literary Review, and many literary magazines and journals. The BE Book, a mindful approach to cultivating happiness, was published in 2012. Once a morning drive radio host in Washington State, his unique voice is often requested for voice-over work.
Michael is currently focused on recording demos of a new collection of songs and a short film collaboration with producers in France and Spain.
